Students and staff at Oasis Academy South Bank in Waterloo are celebrating again today after receiving a record-breaking set of A-Level results, with some phenomenal destinations as a result. Oasis South Bank’s best ever results included 90% of grades awarded being A*-C, and a 10% increase in A and A* grades.
There were plenty of smiles and proud moments as students collected their grades and reflected on two years of hard work, resilience and ambition. These achievements reflect Oasis Academy South Bank's commitment to every part of its students' development, supporting them to succeed not just academically, but also building their confidence and character.
Among the academy's top performers are Yasin, Mohamad and Aria, who each achieved three A*s and are going to study Medicine and Aerospace Engineering at top universities.
Yasin said: "I couldn’t have achieved three A*s without my teachers, especially Mr Wertjes, my Physics teacher, who really encouraged me to put the work in. I’m now in the pool for Cambridge and feel really proud of everything I’ve achieved.”
The academy is also celebrating four students securing places to study Medicine or Veterinary Sciences at leading universities, including King's College London, the University of Bristol and the University of Birmingham.
One of these students is Ikram, who will be studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Lancashire in September. She is the second student in the academy's history to go on to study Veterinary Medicine, after benefiting from mentoring from a former Oasis Academy South Bank student who is currently studying veterinary science.
Ikram said: "I found both Year 12 and 13 really challenging, especially chemistry, so I’m really pleased with my grades. I’m so proud to be going to study Veterinary Medicine and couldn’t have done it without my teachers. My Head of Year, Miss Dalrymple, and Head of Sixth Form, Miss Collis, always pushed me towards my end goal. Pumi, our Safeguarding Lead, also always advocated for my mental wellbeing. I’m so grateful to everyone for getting me to where I am now.”
