Year 11

Year 11 The Final 4 Weeks

The Next 4 Weeks

As you will now be aware the GCSE exams this year will be graded according to a carefully calculated assessment grade which will then be regulated by the exams board and education board.  Please do not contact teachers directly to discuss individual grades as teachers are not legally able to discuss these with you.

We do not believe this should be the end of learning or progress for our students at Oasis Southbank. We have therefore created a schedule of sessions for each week up until May half term which will prepare students for their next steps. Students will be able to take up one of two pathways based on whether they are applying for A-Levels or other college courses and apprenticeships. These courses will start on Monday 27th April and will occur each day from 10.20am. We will send out joining instructions to their email addresses.  It is their responsibility to be attending these workshops, we know that, as always you will encourage and support them in doing so. As a bit of extrinsic motivation, for every session that students attend, they will be awarded a (fictional) raffle ticket! These will then be entered into a prize draw for a £50 amazon voucher on the last day of half term!

We have uploaded an introductory video for students here. This will be useful for parents and carers to have watched as well.

Pathway 1Students applying for A-Level

These courses will help better prepare students for their courses starting in September and will ensure they have not fallen behind despite school closures. They will also help bridge any gaps in knowledge between the GCSE and A-level specifications.

These sessions will be compulsory when they relate to an A-level that students have applied for at OASB Sixth Form.

E.g. If a student has applied for A-Level Psychology then they must attend the Monday morning ‘Introduction to Psychology’ Session with Miss Mitchell

Students must also attend a weekly session on “Getting Ready for University”.

There will be a range of additional sessions to help better prepare our students for life after Year 11 and to help support their wellbeing whilst school is shut.

Sessions in blue: compulsory if you have applied to study these subjects to study at A-level at OASB Sixth Form.
Session in grey: optional

Pathway 2 – Students applying to other college courses/apprenticeships

This course will help better prepare students for their courses starting in September and will ensure they have not fallen behind despite school closures. If students are concerned about achieving a pass in Maths or English GCSE these sessions will be particularly useful in helping them to prepare for any Maths and English courses that they will be required to take next year.

The timetable will cover a range of subjects and life skills as well as sessions that will help support student wellbeing whilst school is shut.

Sessions in blue: Core subject masterclasses
Sessions in pink: sign up necessary here.
Sessions in grey: optional

Please note, (if your child signs up to a 1-1 college application help session) - we are aware that parents may not be available to offer the use of their phones for the 1-1 college application help session.  Our staff will therefore be contacting students directly to talk them through the application process.  If you would rather this did not happen, please email hetal.patel@oasissouthbank.org to provide the best contact number for them to contact students on for these meetings.

If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to contact us below.
