STAIRS to Greatness Sector Project

Our 'Stairs to Greatness' sector project, partners Oasis Academy South Bank students with employers from the local area to give them experience of employment across a variety of sectors. Students get an opportunity to work with different employers, for a half term each throughout the year, learning more about the specific sector as well as raising aspiration, developing communication and experiencing the world of work.

Year 7 currently work with:

Royal Bank of Scotland - RBS have developed a 'Stairs to Greatness' scheme of work in which students learn about the world of banking alongside having to design, market and sell a product themselves, from start to finish! Our children have sold their products to students at a number of London universities, including King's College, to employees at RBS and to members of the public at our local market on Lower Marsh, Waterloo.

Conrad London St James Hotel - Students begin these sessions with a tour of the luxury hotel near St James Park, learning about the world of hospitality. They are then briefed with their assignment. They have to market ideas to make Conrad London St James Hotel more attractive to young people. The half term culminates in them presenting their ideas to members of the St James Hotel team who decide on a winning idea.

Guys and St Thomas' Hospital - Over the half term students learn about different aspects of Health and Social care with visits from members of the medical profession as well as trips to our local hospital, St Thomas', to see what life in a hospital is like.

Metropolitan Police - Students learn about Law and Order through visiting our local police station, meeting officers and running through a mock crime from incident to trial, how arrests work and how a courtroom operates by visiting the Royal Courts of Justice.

PriceWaterhouse Cooper - Through designing their own products and services, marketing and presenting to a panel of PWC employees students learn not only team work and presentation skills but also about the world of consultancy and what this varied industry entails.
