Academy Lunches

At lunchtime we encourage students to have an Academy meal. These are cooked on site and are nutritionally balanced. We always offer a choice including vegetarian and Halal.

Our snacks are free and consist of fruit, crackers and cheese, bread and jams, yoghurt or cereal along with juice or water.

Lunch costs £2.10 per day (£10.50 a week) and is compulsory. We provide your child with a nutritious hot meal and dessert, freshly made every day by our chef and professional catering team. Packed lunches are not allowed without medical exemption and the Principals written agreement. Students entitled to free school meals do not pay for lunch, but will be charged 50p for each snack.

To find out how you can pay for your child's Academy lunches please see our Parent Pay page.

Family Dining at OA South Bank

We believe it is important for our young people to not only feel integrated and supported by peers and teachers alike whilst in education with us, but to develop behaviours and practices in line with those you would expect to see on a model citizen.

Part of our holistic education includes family dining. Each lunchtime, students are invited to sit on shared tables between year groups so that they can make friends, talk to one another and learn from each other. There will then be roles for those dining together, including serving food to one another, pouring water for each other and clearing away plates.

The dining system has proven both very successful in terms of character development, but also very popular with our students.

Applying for Free School Meals

Free Academy meals are available to those families in receipt of Child Tax Credit, Job Seekers’ Allowance or Income Support. To find out more about free school meals or to apply please get in touch with our academy team.
