Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Academy Day

At Oasis South Bank students have an extended school day that allows us to provide a broad range of core curriculum subjects as well as an extensive enrichment programme. We believe that this ensures that we open the doors for our students to go on and be successful in whichever career they choose to pursue after they finish their time with us at Oasis Academy South Bank. Read on to find out about a few of the things that make our school day different - our House Group time 8.30-9am, our Family Style Dining at lunch time and our Enrichment programme.

House Groups

Students are in a House Group names after one of our six school values (Scholarship, Transformation, Aspirations, Inclusion, Resilience, Social Responsibility) They meet in these groups every morning with their House Coach who takes care of their pastoral wellbeing. During this time students take part in Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) where they read a popular teenage fiction book together for pleasure to build a love of reading and improve their literacy. They also take part in a PSCHE programme that provides student with an opportunity to learn about a range of topics that affect their wellbeing and personal growth. Click here to find out more about our PSCHE curriculum. In Key Stage 4 students also study Religious Studies for one session a week with their House Group. Please click here to find out more about our RS curriculum.

Family Style Dining

We believe it is important for our young people to not only feel integrated and supported by peers and teachers alike whilst in education with us, but to develop behaviours and practices in line with those you would expect to see on a model citizen.

Part of our holistic education includes family dining. Each lunchtime, students are invited to sit on shared tables between year groups so that they can make friends, talk to one another and learn from each other. There will then be roles for those dining together, including serving food to one another, pouring water for each other and clearing away plates.

The dining system has proven both very successful in terms of character development, but also very popular with our students.
